FAQ

  • Currently, we are offering telepsychiatry services in the states of New Jersey, New York and Florida.

In-person is available at our Short Hills, NJ location.

Select in-person appointments can be done at our locations in Tampa and Miami Florida.

  • At this time, we see ages 18 to 64; on a case-by-case basis, we can see adolescents and teens from ages 15 to 17yo.

  • In New Jersey, we are currently in-network with Aetna, Bluecross Blueshield, Cigna and United Healthcare.

In Florida, we are currently in-network with Aetna, Cigna, UHC, Bluecross Blueshield PPO plans, but considered OUT-OF-NETWORK with other health insurances.

Insurance companies set limits on the frequency and length of psychiatric visits, and choose what they will reimburse for a given diagnosis. This can make it difficult for physicians to make decisions that they feel are in the best interests of their patients. This is why we also see patients who are interested in not using their insurance, and want to pay out of pocket.

If you do want to submit your visits as an out-of-network claim to your insurance, SK Lifestyle Psychiatry can provide the needed documentation in the form of a “superbill” (itemized health care receipt), except those with Medicare/Medicaid. We cannot make any guarantees of insurance reimbursement, and some insurances may require additional information that we are unable to provide.

  • At this time, we do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.

  • Forms of this nature are dealt with on a case by case basis. However, we do not offer assistance for long-term disability, legal evaluations/certifications, IEP/504 or ESA letters (emotional support animal).

  • To ensure the best care to all our patients, we have a strict cancellation policy. Appointments must be cancelled 24hrs prior to session. Any appointment cancelled less than 24hrs will result in the full service fee to be charged to your credit or debit card on file.

  • We aim to respond to messages within 48 business hours. However, if you are in a crisis and need immediate evaluation (ie thoughts of suicide or hurting other, severe drug reaction, or any other emergency), we recommend for you to call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room for evaluation.

  • This is totally fine! But we might not be the best practice for you. While we realize therapy can be effective on its own for many individuals, our approach involves the utilization of other tools which includes medications. We use therapeutic techniques in our treatment, and not any specific therapeutic modality. If at any time during treatment we realize more intensive therapy is needed, we will provide referrals to therapists that may be available in your area.

  • Psychiatrists are medical doctors with advanced training, with typically 12-14 years of higher education.

A registered nurse can hold an Associates or Bachelor’s degree (2-4 years). They can then purse a Master’s level education, typically up to 2 years.
